Curtam!

This month was crazy from start to finish… I caught a pretty nasty cold/virus thing right in the middle of the month, which threatened the release date on this EP, but I am so glad to report than my voice came back literally 48 hours ago. Thanks to a team of incredible and hard working people, I was able to complete this EP and release it into the wild today! Hooray! In spite of being sick, I had an incredible time writing and recording these songs. I’d say the mood of this EP is a bit more playful and light than any of the previous EPs. On “Wilderness” I aimed to give the old electric guitar some love! It’s got an old-school Sleeping At Last feel – was fun to play! On “Hit or Miss” I enjoyed piling layers upon layers of sounds, giving lots of attention to the drums. On “Aperture” I fell in love all over again with my KALA Ukulele. Tons of fun!

“JULY” SPECIAL GUESTS:

JACOB MARSHALL (Played Drums on “Wilderness”) : You may know Jacob as the drummer of an excellent band called “Mae” or maybe you know him from his new/absolutely amazing band, “River James.” Either way, you SHOULD know him – He’s awesome. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Jacob for a few years and not only is he an incredible drummer, he’s one of my favorite people on the planet too! Such a treat to finally make some music together! Do yourself a favor and check out his band, River James! They just released a gorgeous EP! Jacob is from Norfolk, VA.

MARK PADGETT (Played Bass on “Wilderness”) : Like Jacob, Mark is also a member of the band “Mae“‘s rhythm section! Mark’s an excellent bass player, engineer, producer and mixer from Virginia Beach, VA. He not only played bass on this track, but he also engineered the Jacob’s drums too! A pleasure working with him. If you’re looking for a great mixer, engineer or producer, give Mark a ring! 757-320-1509 – he does fine work indeed!

AARON MORTENSON (Played Drums on “Hit or Miss”) : Aaron rulez. Fact. He recorded his percussive sweetness in his home studio with his pal, Gordy Persha, in Nashville, TN. Check out Aaron’s band, The Clones here.

JEREMY LARSON (Played Cellos & Violas on “Aperture”) : Just a few hours ago, I asked Jeremy if he’d have time to layer some Cello/Viola on this song and he did so with impeccable speed and excellence, as always! It was recorded in Springfield, MO. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: buy Jeremy’s latest album here!
